Guest House Where Widow Was Allegedly Raped By Police Risks Closure

The guest house at Saapenkwaa in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State where a widow was allegedly taken to by a Police Inspector and  raped till daybreak risks closure, National Network has learned.

Our reporter gathered that in course of investigation it was gathered that check-in procedures as stipulated by the Rivers State Government were not followed before the alleged raped survivor and Police Inspector were allowed access into the room.

Our source revealed that there were no functional Close Circuit Television Camera also.

The source disclosed that failure to adhere to check-in procedures of guests in a hotel or guest house as stipulated by the state government may lead to temporary closure of the place or other penalties.

Meanwhile the 23-year-old widow allegedly raped by Police Inspector  has dismissed rumour that she has abandoned the case and seeking for settlement.

In an interview with our correspondent, the widow described the insinuation as untrue.

The widow said contrary to the insinuation of she abandoning the case, she has been cooperating with the Police in course of investigation.

She disclosed that although there were pressures from some quarters for her to compromise she is only interested in justice not money and nothing will stop her from seeking for justice.

She said, luckily for her, one of the officers has confessed in course of investigation that she was actually arrested for not putting on face mask and taken away by his boss.

She maintained that she will continue to cry for justice until justice is seen to be done.
