RSHA Condemns Exclusion Of Rivers From World Bank Loan

The Rivers State House of Assembly has condemned​ the exclusion of Rivers State Government from projects accruing from Federal Government World bank proposed loan​.

This followed a motion presented by the leader of the House Hon. Martin Amaewhule asking the House to condemn the exclusion.

Martin Amaewhule  had among other things prayed the House to urge the National Assembly not to grant the request of loan by the Federal Government if Rivers State is not included in the list of states to benefit from the projects​.

In their submissions  the lawmakers resolved to lead a protest to the national​ Assembly to register  their displeasure after consultations with members of the National Assembly from Rivers State​.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji, decried the exclusion describing it as sad particularly at this time of Nigerian’s independence anniversary adding that such divisive tendency is capable of tearing the country apart .

Meanwhile a private member Bill seeking for the compulsory treatment​ and care of victims of gunshots in Rivers State​ has received its first reading on the floor of the House.

The essence of the bill according to the sponsor Hon. Sam Ogeh (Emuoha) is to save lives​.

The House also approved the request by the Rivers State Government to borrow the sum of N25bn from Zenith bank for funding of projects.
