Family Demands Justice Over Alleged Rape Of 13- Year- Old

The family of a thirteen-year-old girl,  who was allegedly raped by one Mathew Gor in Barayira Community  in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State are demanding justice for the alleged act.

The elder brother of the alleged rape survivor who is also her guardian, Mr Sebastian Mission, called on the Police to ensure justice is served in the matter.

Mr. Mission who spoke to our reporter via telephone noted that the family is still in shock over the incident.

Mr. Mission while narrating the ordeal of the victim, said the mother of the alleged rape survivor last Friday while seeing her daughter off after a visit, saw the suspect at Trailer Park in Eleme at about 6pm and pleaded with him to take the thirteen-year-old girl home since both of them are from the same community.

Mr. Mission disclosed that the suspect obliged to give the thirteen-year-old girl a lift together with two persons on his motorcycle.

The guardian of the rape victim revealed that after the suspect dropped off the other persons at a village before Barayira community, the said Mr. Gor diverted the thirteen-year-old girl to a lonely road that Friday night and threatened her with a knife before he raped her.

Mr. Mission further explained that a security guard who had earlier heard her screaming saw her at the Express Road while crying after the suspect left and took the alleged rape victim to the Youth leader of the community who in turn advised that the matter should be reported to the Chief of the community.

Mr. Mission stated that the Chief encouraged them to report the matter to the Police after he heard from the thirteen-year-old girl and the security guard.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the incident said the case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
