The Paramount Ruler of Nkarahia Community in Isiokpo Kingdom, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Alikonwo Ehio XIV has commended governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for tarring all the internal roads in Isiokpo which he said was a pleasant surprise.
He stated this in a chat with newsmen during the commissioning of the Isiokpo internal raods by the governor, saying that really the governor is “a talk and do” politician.
The monarch explained that with the opening up of these roads, investors will be attracted to the area for eventual development.
“We are specially grateful to governor Wike for promising to link us with the Isiodu people in Emohua Local Government for easy communication and interaction” he said.
On what happened that the immediate past Amaechi administration consigned the Isiokpo kingdom to “Azumba” (interior community), the monach explained that the Amaechi administration said it will not pay compensation for buildings damaged during the exercise except it is measured up to 40 feet from the main road in course of the expansion which the people refused.
“We refused to oblige the then governor and this angered him and so he decided to cut the community off by creating a new road behind us”.
The royal father confessed that the action greatly affected the development of the ancient kingdom.
Eze Alikonwo used the opportunity to appeal to the governor to consider second and third class status for paramount rulers in Isiokpo kingdom especially his own stool, adding that this year marks his 45th year on the throne without classification.
He said it is important traditional rulers are encouraged in one form or the other considering the enormous work they do in the maintenance of peace at the grassroot.
He equally used the chance to reaffirm the support of his people to the Wike administration achieve set goal.
