Fuel Subsidy Removal: Asari Dokubo Amasses Support  For Jonathan…Orders PENGASSAN To Vacate Oil Platforms

By Polycarp Nwaeke

Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a former militants' hench man has ordered the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) officials to vacate oil platforms in the Niger Delta.

Dokubo who thundered this order in a mass protest he organized in Port Harcourt in support of the Petroleum subsidy removal also warned labour and other groups that are protesting against President Jonathan's government to stop disturbing the president in order not to derail his reform processes.

Asari who was shielded by a large army of protesting Niger Delta youths condemned the cabal in Lagos and Kano who have been benefiting from the fuel subsidy, saying it was no longer business as usual as President Jonathan is determined to change the status quo.

He warned that if anything happened to the President the country would explode and ordered the PENGASSAN who had threatened to shut down oil installations to vacate all oil platforms in the Niger Delta.

Consequently, the militant hench man and his army of protesting youths had straight-away, moved from the protesting ground to occupy the oil platforms.

Their placards showed that they were heading to take over Oando, Mobil, Total and other prominent filling stations in an around Port Harcourt.

The strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to protest petroleum subsidy removal by President Jonathan has paralyzed the economy of the country and it has been estimated that for the 5 days it has lasted Nigeria has lost more than N800 billion naira.###
