Etche Council Boss Donates Buses To Alleviate Transportation Problems

As a palliative to the removal of fuel subsidy, the executive chairman of Etche Local Government Area. Hon. Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma has donated about ten buses to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

Speaking during the commissioning of the first batch of the transport scheme, Hon. Barr. Ukwuoma reiterated his commitment to give adequate leadership devoid of corruption to his people. He told journalists that the purchase of buses for transportation was not part of his agenda, but had to do it to reduce the problems faced by the people of Etche due to subsidy removal.

According to the Etche Council boss, much had been done in the areas of water scheme, solar system energy, poverty alleviation computer training, furnishing of offices, renovation of existing markets in some communities, construction of roads in Mouechem, foundation and construction of ultra modern market in Igbodo for the people Etche Community.

Hon. Ukwuoma maintained that, if all level of government govern their people with the fear of God, dividends of democracy will be delivered to the rural areas of the states. He urged all local government chairmen to borrow a leaf by reducing the suffering of people over transportation due to the fuel subsidy removal.

The Etche council chairman used the opportunity to inaugurate the Transport Committee to be chaired by himself while other members include Precious Chikezie as secretary, Florence Nwala-Nulge chairman representing NULGE, Nkechi Oluo among others.

In their separate speeches, the chairman National Union of Road Transport Workers, Etche chapter, Chief John Okere thanked the chairman for embarking on projects that have direct impact on the rural dwellers and promised to make sure that the buses are put to good use to achieve its desired objectives.

Also speaking, the vice chairman of Etche local government area, Hon. Sonye Onyesoh, the leader of Etche Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon Henry Nwekwe and the leader of Etche market women association thanked the council chairman.

Hon. Reginald, Ukwuoma for fulfilling his promises, saying, Etche people will continue to give support to his administration and that of Rt. Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and his Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.###
