Road Accident Claims 5 Lives

A fatal accident which occurred on Saturday, January 14 involving a Toyota Camry  and a trailer at Oginigba, near Trans Amadi Industrial Estate reportedly claimed five lives.

According to eye witnesses, the accident which occurred Opposite Etema Filling station junction was caused by the driver of the Camry who was coming with an excessive speed and failed to apply his brakes quick enough at the trailer that was reversing at the junction.

The brakes having failed him, the Camry was said to have landed at a shop near the junction and in the process crushed two persons whose names were given as Mr. Udoh and Madam May, in addition to three persons in the Camry who died instantly.

The driver was said to have escaped with injuries and is now being attended to in an undisclosed hospital.

Mr. Udoh, the deceased, was said to be coming back from his boutique after closure of  business, when the car rushed him, while the late Madam May was at her restaurant the incident occurred.###
