Lawmaker Urges Niger  Deltans To Participate In Constitution Amendments

The lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Barr. Kingsley Chinda, has urged Niger Deltans, especially Rivers people to participate fully in the on-going constitution amendments by submitting memoranda for consideration.

Disclosing this to news in an interview at the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa, Hon. Chinda said the call has become necessary inorder to allow the region make her imputs, having been in the forefront of agitation for good tidings for the people.

Hon. Chinda said being a member of the committee, it behooves on him to inform his people on the amendments so that they could participate in it and through their memoranda discuss such issues as state creation, environmental degradation, electoral system and others.

Speaking on the Petroleum Industry Bill, the lawmaker told newsmen that it needed to be retouched before it is passed into law, adding that those of them from Rivers State had met and looked at the draft bill and pin-pointed areas that require to be worked on.

He also spoke on the petroleum subsidy removal, saying it was discovered that a few people have been pocketing the money for the subsidy. According to him there is a committee currently investigating the issue of subsidy and assured that the committee would do a good job that will unravel those behind the racket.###
