Creation of New Ministries and Boards, Untimely, Ill-advised – ACN

The Rivers State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), says the creation of new ministries and boards in the State at a time the government is finding it difficult to pay the N18,000 minimum wage and attend to myriad of problems of the State Universities is a product of confused thinking.

This is contained in a press statement issued and signed by Jerry Needam, Publicity Secretary of the ACN in the State on behalf of the party.

According to the statement, creation of new offices this time is unnecessary and is not the way to attend to the alarming youth unemployment in the State.

Describing the decision as ill-advised, ACN spokesman, Jerry Needam said the only reason behind the creation of new boards and ministries is the urge to satisfy and further line the pockets of political associates and supporters by government.

“While the Federal Government is calling for the reduction of the salaries and allowances of political office holders by 25% to reduce cost and make room for the yawning demands, Amaechi is busy creating conduit pipes for siphoning the State treasury”, Jerry Needam regretted.

He wondered why any person who meant well for the State would consider the like of the former Council Chairman of Emohua Local Government, Emeka Woke considering his dismal performance while in office for six years as council chair.

The ACN called on Gov Amaechi to wake up to the serious issues and challenges of government instead of pre-occupying himself with plots against 2015 politics.###
