According to him, “It is
important that people imbibe
the habit of cleanliness
always and the government
will do her best to assist
the citizens in this
regards”.
He made it known that
environment is the State's
inheritage and therefore
people should endeavour to
preserve the future, adding
that it is wrong for people
to deliberately dump their
refuse on the road or block
the drainages.
Dr Weli stated that
enforcement of environmental
laws will be unnecessary if
people apply their common
sense in every of their
day-to-day activities.
At the Market Junction,
Rumueme, the Commissioner
ordered the CDC Chairman of
Oroebara Community, Mr
Ohazurume Vincent and the
head of St. John's (Ang.)
Church, Rumueme Deanery,
Ven. John Ndubuisi to ensure
in consultation with the
Obio/Akpor Council Chairman
that the bushy cemetery in
front of the Church is kept
clean and fenced round. “If
you love your loved ones who
are lying there, you would
not keep them in such dirty
environment as the cemetery”
he lamented.
At the Mile One Flyover, the
Monitoring Team forced some
idle youths and traders to
clean up under the bridge
that now serve as open
market, but surprisingly
turned away from the bushy
police station compound.
At the Bishop Okoye Street
Market in Mile 3, Diobu, the
Commissioner addressed the
traders, pleading with them
to always keep their trading
environment clean in the
interest of their health.
He also advised them to
avoid trading on the Streets
if they can, as well as
dumping in the drainages due
to its negative effects in
