Elder Lekue Lah Loolo Is Dead

A prominent son of Ogoni and foremost technocrat, elder Lekue Lah Loolo has passed on.

Born in 1942 to Loolo family in Opuoko Nyokhana district of Khana local government area of Rivers State, Elder  Lekue joined his ancestors last week after a protracted illness.

He died at a hospital in   Port Harcourt.

An erudite scholar, elder Lekue Lah Loolo in his days held several positions of responsibility within and outside Rivers State.

A senior English and Geography teacher at Ascension High School, Eleme in 1966, Elder Lekue rose to become the principal, Government comprehensive school, Taaba in 1968 – 1970.

After an exciting outing as a classroom teacher and administrator, late elder Lekue transferred his services to the ministry and later became Director, Rivers State Agricultural Production and Marketing Corporation 1969 – 1970, Director, Rivers State Council for Arts and Culture 1970 – 1973, and Director, Risonpalm 1970 – 1973 and later Rivers State Housing Corporation etc.

Elder Lekue also had a brief stint in politics and became the Executive Chairman of defunct Bori Local Government Council (1988 – 1990), Special Assistant to Hon Secretary  For Industry, Interim Government of Nigeria, Abuja (1993).

He was also appointed member, Governing Council, Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori 1992 – 1994.

A husband, brother, uncle and father, elder Lekue was aged 70.###
