Late Assembly Press Corps Chairman Goes Home Amid Tears

The remains of the late Rivers State House of Assembly Press Corps chairman Mr David Afonwa was amid tears last weekend committed to mother earth at his home town Ibaa in Emuoha Local Government Area.

Ministering during the funeral service the officiating minister, Rev. E. C. Adiele noted that late David Afonwa has gone to the part of all, a root that will never be closed until the trumpet sounds and advised the family to take solace in the fact that life is only transformed and not ended.

In his remarks, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Mr. Opaka Dokubo who expressed shock over Dave's sudden demise regretted that 2011 was a very bad one for the union as Dave as fondly called was the fourth person the council lost within four months.

The state NUJ boss affirmed the fact that nobody can question God over the loss of a committed and diligent colleague and described late David Afonwa as a serious person which according to him is an indication that he was a pillar in his own home.

He however prayed that God who is the husband of the widow and father of the orphan will step into the family and lift them beyond the dreams he had for them.

The Director of press in the River State House of Assembly who led the press corps member to pay their last respect to their departed chairman chronicled late David's attributes and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.###
