Pat On The Back For Judiciary Over Supreme  Court Judgment

By Amadi  Gilbert

The former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Peremiebowei Ebebi has lauded the judiciary for putting to stop the tenure elongation of five governors.

Addressing Airport correspondents at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa Rivers State recently, Ebebi said the court had set the issue of tenure right in the eyes of the law, adding that, if any governor had spent one day or more it should be counted because he must have signed and collected both security votes and state allocations after being sworn in, adding that, the court had given hope to the common masses.

According to Ebebi it was a kind of reform in the judiciary which should continue but regretted the fact that, Chief Timipre Sylva is a violent leader that has promoted violence in the state, adding that, the youths should accept the verdict and embrace peace, thank God for such development and be vigilant in choosing a new leader that would not emulate the attitudes of Chief Sylva.

Also, a legal practitioner Dr. O. O. Osusu and other well meaning Nigerians described the Supreme Court Judgment as a welcome development, saying as it was delivered by the highest court of competent jurisdiction, it should be respected.

According to the senior legal practitioner, Chief Timpre should vacate the seat of power and the speaker sworn-in because the law is above any individual, while urging Bayelsans to remain peaceful and calm.###
