Chief
Worlu Appointed Rebuild Nigeria Rivers Co-ordinator
A traditional
ruler in Rumuigbo community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area
of Rivers State, the Ochialiri 1 of Ekinigbo, Chief A. A. Worlu,
has been appointed the State Co-ordinator of Rebuild Nigeria
Initiative (RNI), a political advocacy organization with
headquarters in Abuja.
A statement
signed by the body's National Co-ordinator, Prince Hope
Rex-Lawson and dated Friday, January 27, 2012 indicated that
Chief A. A. Worlu was appointed in consideration of his
competence, organizational skills and industry.
With the
appointment, Chief Worlu is mandated among other functions to
sensitize and communicate the strategic goals of the body in
consultation and collaboration with the Rivers State Government.
He is also
expected to formulate an effective enabling policy to guide
local government co-ordinators to attain the goals and
objectives of the organization as well as provide a mechanism
for the application of policies across the state that will lead
to the consistent pursuit of the goals of the body without
extinguishing the diversity of strategies used to meet different
circumstances across the state.
As the state co-ordinator,
Chief Worlu is equally expected to assist in dissemination of
information relating to the activities of the organization in
the state and all the 23 local government areas of the state and
also provide policy advice, co-ordination, monitoring and
research throughout the state.
He would equally
be involved in the evaluation and monitoring of all state and
local government projects for the body.
Reacting to the
appointment in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Chief Worlu
expressed happiness for the honour done him, and assured that he
would deploy his abilities, skills and resources to take the
organization to greater heights in the State.
He also noted
that the body would work hand in hand with the state government
to promote peace, development and good governance in the state
in particular and the country in general.
Chief Worlu,
widely acclaimed as a great political mobiliser and champion of
justice, equity and truth said membership of the group is open
to all Rivers people and non-indigenes resident in the State.
He further
disclosed that members of the state executive committee of the
organization would be inaugurated on March 3, 2012 at its No.
581 Ikwerre Road, Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt State Secretariat, and
urged all residents of the state to whole heartedly embrace the
body which he described as a platform for empowering the
people.###
