With effect from Tuesday January 13, 2009, kidnap has
become a capital offence in Abia State. This followed the signing
into law of the amendment to the Abia State criminal code law by
Governor Theodore Orji at the Government House Umuahia on Tuesday.

called on President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua to

National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof.
Maurice Iwu, if he wants his reform to be
credible. Besides, he called for the removal of the immunity clause
in the constitution. He lambasted past leaders, especially former President
Olusegun Obasanjo, whom he accused of using his
