Community, Police Synergize For Peace In Rumuwoji

The Nigeria Police has urged indigenes of Rumuwoji Community, Oro-Abali of Rebisi Kingdom in the Port Harcourt Local Government Area to shun all forms of criminality and maintain peace in the community.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mile One Police Division, Soibi West who gave the advice when the newly elected Executives of the community visited the station, noted that the Police cannot operate effectively without the cooperation of the community leadership and the people.

West assured that the Police in Mile 1 will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that those living and doing business in the area enjoy peace but urged the newly elected Exco members to reconcile all aggrieved parties and ensure inclusiveness in the running of their affairs in the community.

He warned that the community assets belong to all and should not be diverted to any person or group of individuals.

The Rumuwoji Community Council chairman, Hon. Isaac Chibueze Wigodo, Commended the Divisional Police Officer and his men for receiving the newly Elected Executive, assuring that the community would work in synergy with the Police for enhanced community policing in the area.

Wigodo disclosed that the community had set up a monitoring team led by Blessing Ichem Amadi to always liase with the Police authorities to achieve maximum security.

Earlier, the former Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ike Wigodo Commended the Police for a cordial working relationship during the three months he served as the head of affairs in the community and appealed that the same cooperation be extended to the newly elected executive of the community.

Wigodo who is the secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Rivers State Council (NUJ) however, formally introduced the new Executives to the division.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Soibi West and other senior police officers of the division were present at the event.
