RIWAMA Sole Administrator, Bro. Felix Obuah Commences Daily Sanitation Monitoring Exercise, Tuesday, January 15, 2019

…Warns Service Providers ‘To Sit Up Or Get Fired

The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah has announced the commencement of his daily sanitation monitoring of major roads and streets in Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs to ensure a clean and healthy environment.

Bro. Obuah in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the exercise which begins on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 is coming after the festive period and urged all residents and those doing business in the city to clean their gutters and drainages, and dispose their refuse at RIWAMA-approved receptacles.

He advised residents and those doing business in Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs to take the sanitation of their areas serious, warning that those who flout the directive would be prosecuted in line with sanitation laws.

The RIWAMA boss further declared that dumping of refuse on the median is unlawful, warning that anyone caught in the act would be dragged before the Sanitation Court for prosecution.

Bro. Obuah also charged Service Providers working with the Agency to take their works serious by ensuring that their areas are kept clean daily.

The RIWAMA Sole Administrator reminded the Service Providers that the task of keeping Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs clean at all times is a mission that must be accomplished and frowned particularly at the nonchalant attitude of some contractors in the discharge of their duties.

Bro. Obuah stressed that the objective of RIWAMA in ensuring the cleanliness of all nooks and crannies in the city of Port Harcourt, the state capital and its environs, at all times cannot be compromised.

The RIWAMA boss warned that Service Providers who failed to discharge their duties satisfactorily would have their contracts terminated.

He also called on the people to reciprocate the efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike who has given all necessary support to the Agency, to keep the state clean at all times and also keep to the dumping time of 6 p.m. to 12 midnight as well as dumping of refuse at duly approved receptacles.
