Niger Delta Activist Makes Case For Onowo  Of Igbo Kingdom

A medical practitioner and Vice President of the Niger Delta Liberation Movement (NDLM), Comrade (Amb) Thankgod Oguzie, has appealed to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to consider a befitting political appointment for High Chief Nkemakolam Nwanuo as he assumes his second term in office.

Oguzie who made the appeal while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday, said that Nwanuo, the traditional paramount ruler and Onowu 1 of Igbo Kingdom is worthy of an appointment as, according to him, the Onowu will add value to his government.

“He has uncommon generosity, a philanthropist with the right attitude, a great source of inspiration and above all, a lover of Etche people”, Oguzie said while showering accolades on High Chief Nwanuo.

The Niger Delta activist said another thing that stood the Onowo 1 out among his peers, was his passion in assisting the less privileged, particularly the physically challenged, whom he had often charged not to see their situation as hopeless and frustrating.

“For High Chief Nwanuo, there is ability in disability.  He has proven that physical challenge should not be a hindrance to any visionary or productive individual, that everyone has a potential to make it in life”, he said.

The youthful activist told the Governor that Etche people would be eternally grateful to him if the Onowo is given appointment.

“He is the man of the people who bagged the Hope of the less Privileged Award.  In Etche, we see him as ‘Christ in man of Etche’, a grassroots mobilizer and man of very high integrity”, he posited.
