Workers’ Day: Farah Dagogo Calls For Improved Health Care Facilities

…Lauds Resilience of Nig. Workers

As a way of motivating workers, the member representing Degema /Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo, has called for the improvement of health care facilities in the country.

He made this known in his statement to commemorate this years International Workers’ Day.

He commended the resilience of workers, who he noted, have put in great commitments in serving their fatherland ‘ in this trying times ‘ with diligent services and commendable work ethics.

The lawmaker also pointed out that the efforts of workers, especially those in medical and other related professions, have been of immense benefits in battling the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as getting a cure for it and stressed the need to scale up health care facilities.

Describing workers as an integral part to the success of any government vis-à-vis the growth and development of the society at large, he noted that they have again demonstrated a remarkable responsibility to rise to the occasion when required.

Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo urged the workers, particularly those who in carrying out their job functions are exposed to varying degrees of challenges, not to be dispirited as majority of the populace deeply appreciate their sacrifices.

He said it is pertinent for employers of this class of labour, from both the public and private sectors, to ensure that these workers welfare are on a comparative advantage and shoulder above the current economic and living realities.

He regretted that Covid-19 pandemic has also exposed the rot in Nigeria’s health sector and urged Government at all levels to pursue a holistic and aggressive reformation of the sector.

“As we mark another Workers Day in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I want to use this unique opportunity to canvass for an improved welfare package for workers in both the private and public sectors that can at least temper with the current economic and living realities and the daily dangers they encounter.

 “Reality has also dawned on us as a nation that we need to go the extra mile to revitalize our health sector. It is incumbent on government at all levels to now see the pursue and aggressive reformation of our health sector as a priority.

“I also want to personally use this auspicious day to thank our courageous workers, who toil day and night, who brave the odds to give their utmost best. It is clear that those efforts and commitments have contributed immensely to the growth of our fatherland, as well as reducing the effects of the Covid-19.

“As an employer of labour, I know the importance of workers. It gives me great joy and utmost satisfaction that periodically, I make continuous effort to improve the welfare of my workers, from different levels, upward. This has been my little way of saying ‘Thank You’ for the invaluable services these workers are rendering, ” a part of the statement reads.

The statement further enjoined the workers to continue praying for the prosperity, growth and development of the country, as well as God’s divine wisdom for the country’s leaders at all levels to pilot and meet the aspirations of the people.
