PDP Chieftain Commends Gov Wike Over “Operation Sting” Initiative

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief (Dr) Goodluck Nwobike has commended the State Chief Executive, Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the successful launching of the New Rivers State Security Initiative, code named “Operation Sting” over the weekend in Port Harcourt.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, he stated that the governor has demonstrated that he can bark and bite, adding that with this development Rivers people and residents can now sleep with their two eyes closed.

He made it clear that the governor has demonstrated capacity to rid of criminal elements and appealed for maximum support and cooperation from everybody to ensure the success of the programme in the overall interest of Rivers State.

Chief Nwobike said it is indeed another testimony of promise made and kept by the governor.

According to him, “confronting the insecurity challenges in the state headlong was one of his second term inauguration speech promises”.

The Kelga Ward one PDP strongman maintained that insecurity is one of the major challenges facing the whole country today but noted that, that of Rivers State is over-bloated out of proportion, blaming the development on those he described as sabortuers and enemies of the state.

“The insecurity in the country cuts across all the 36 states in Nigeria including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) but that of Rivers State is very low compared to the degree experienced in other states”, he noted.

Sir Nwobike however used the opportunity to appeal to journalists both electronics and print to be cautious in their reportage so as not to report event out of proportion, thereby putting the state in bad light with its obvious disadvantages. “It is important they cross-check all their facts before going to the press”.

He further noted that the giant stride of the governor in this regard is worthy of commendation by all well-meaning residents and stakeholders in Rivers State as according to him, the initiative would restore the confidence of investors and attract would-be or run away investors.

Dr. Nwobike stressed that the present security architecture the governor has put in place in the state speaks volumes, as he appears to be committed now more than ever before to flushing out criminal elements, hence his determination to synergise and collaborate efforts with all arms of the security agencies.

“To demonstrate his readiness to get it right this time, Dr Nwobike noted, governor Wike even made provision for the families of any fallen hero in courses of duties which would further boost the morale of the security operators”.

“With this security strategy meticulously applied by the operators, the PDP stakeholder was optimistic that Rivers State would be a safe heaven for residents but would be an investment destination for the world over.

Dr Nwobike advised that now that elections were over, politicians should come together, settle down and deliver on their campaign promises.
