NSCDC Officer Risks Dismissal Over Shooting Of Teenager In Rivers

Reports reaching National Network indicate that an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, Gideon Olufemi may  be dismissed from the organization over shooting of a teenager Tubotamuno Krukrubo around Greater Port Harcourt City at Igwurita Ali, Ikwerre Local Government Area last week Saturday.

We gathered that the NSCDC officerhad arrested the victim and two of his friends for allegedly learning how to drive around the Greater Port Harcourt city environment. Our source disclosed that the three teenagers who were arrested at about 16:00 hours  last week Saturday were taken to the office of the Civil Defence operatives at Igwurita Ali.

The source say the teenagers shouted on top of their voices when the NSCDC personnel  reportedly  subjected them to torture. The said NSDC personnel was said to have shot  Master Krukrubo for daring to  resist torture from the security operatives.

According to our source, the NSCDC operatives took the victim to the hospital after two hours with warning to the other two teenagers not to disclose to anybody what transpired or else they would be tagged armed robbers.

We learned that succor came the way of the teenagers when the Medical Doctor in the hospital insisted that he must be briefed on what transpired before treatment can be carried out on the victim.

At that point, the teenagers used the opportunity to contact their Aunty who is a female practicing lawyer, our reporter gathered.

The female lawyer simply identified as Barrister Daba was said to have made efforts that got the attention of  Muktar Lawal, the Commandant of NSCDC, Rivers State who ordered immediate arrest of the erring Civil Defence personnel and visited the victim late night that Saturday.

Checks by National Network show that the NSCDC personnel had been charged to and, orderly room trial an internal disciplinary measure of the organization will commence very soon and the erring personnel may likely face dismissal on grounds of attempted murder and misuse of fire arms.

Barrister Daba confirmed the incident to our reporter when contacted but declined further comments.

Sources at NSCDC headquarters in Rivers State also confirmed the incident to our reporter.

We also gathered that the victim has been transferred to a Government hospital as at press time.
