The Rivers State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa has added another feather to his cap.
READ & REAP Bible Enterprises (aka Bible Reading Culture Promoter), Port Harcourt gave an award to the CAN leader over the weekend in recognition of his determined efforts in promoting religious tolerance in the state and country at large.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Dimkpa tasked parents to ensure that their children and wards study the Bible to be able to stand the challenges of life.
The CAN chairman who is a senior lecturer in the Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, faculty of Agriculture described the word of God as a creative power that can sustain the earth and stressed the need for everyone to attach premium to the study of the Vible to attract divine blessings.
According to him, “this award is a good one and in the right direction by the special grace of God, I think the award is very necessary and well deserved. This award is not for me alone but the entire body of Christ,” he stated.
The chairman extended appreciation to the organizers of the programme as according to him, “the culture of reading the Bible is in line with the biblical command that we should train up and start off our children on the teaching of the scripture in order for them to grow up in the way of the Lord with good moral and even when they are old, they will not depart from it.”
Quoting from 2 Timothy 3 vs 15 “And that from a child thou has known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”, he noted.
Dr. Dimkpa further disclosed that the advice when adhered to, will drastically reduce cultism and other social vices in the society.
He used the opportunity to encourage other ministers of God to imbibe and emulate the Bible reading contest as to judiciously engage the young ones.
While also dedicating the award to the officers and heads of families of Rivers State CAN, the chairman called on other stakeholders in the state to encourage biblical teachings rather than supporting what he called anti-Christian television programmes like “the big brother Nigeria”.
Dr. Dimkpa who is also the head of St. Phoebe Parish of the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Port Harcourt and the former head of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Rivers State, a block of CAN, equally used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary Celebration, pledging the association’s unflinching support to his administration to achieve set goal.
