2019 Election: We Can’t Thank God Enough – Wike

The State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has expressed gratitude to the People of Degema Local Government Area for their support to his Administration, especially during the turbulent period of the 2019 election.

Governor Wike expressed this during a thanksgiving Service organized by St Alban’s Anglican Church Obuama for the Second Tenure Election Victory of Wike and his Deputy Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo at the Church Auditorium on Sunday, 9th February, 2020.

Represented by his Deputy Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Governor Wike said despite the fact that the election was peaceful they came with their might to thwart the will of the Rivers People but the Almighty God had His say at the end.

“They came with the army, tried with INEC, the Police, they tried to sabotage us within and outside but the counsel of the Almighty God prevailed”.

According to Governor Wike at the point when all other states that participated in the gubernatorial election of 2019 had received their results, Rivers State was still hanging; however, the Governor said he knew it was not hanging but resting in the hands of God who had the final say.

Governor Wike insisted that there is no amount of thanksgiving that would be enough to thank the Almighty God for what he did for the State, stressing that it is scriptural to pray and give thanks to God at all times.

He said two hundred and fifty days into his second tenure the Almighty God is still faithful, noting that on his part he would continue to execute projects and policies that positively impact on the lives of the Rivers People.

Governor Wike thanked the Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese, Rt. Rev Ralph Ebirien for personally coming to officiate at the thanksgiving service and for his continuous prayers for the success of the Wike led Administration.

In his sermon drawn from Exodus 15:1-2 the Bishop, Niger Delta Diocese, Anglican Communion Rt. Rev. Ralph Ebirien said thanksgiving which is a mark of humility, appreciation, satisfaction, and acknowledgement of what God gives to us should be a part of our lifestyle.

The clergy who noted that God had ordained Governor Wike to lead the Rivers People at this point in time, charged them not to be afraid because the Almighty God would see them through.

In its welcome address delivered by Sir Daobu Harvest Harry, the Parish Church Council congratulated the Governor and his Deputy on their second term in office despite the activities of the forces of darkness against the good people of Rivers State, noting that the re-election of the Governor has proven that one with God is majority.

He commended Governor Wike for the numerous developmental projects across the State, particularly the renovation of the State Primary School II Obuama, Community Secondary School, Community Solar Water Project, and the just concluded Skills Acquisition Programme for the 3 Kalabari Speaking LGAs as well as the inclusion of the total renovation of the Community Secondary School Obuama in the Budget.
