WOWICAN Laments Killings, Persecution In Rivers

The chairperson-elect of the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN, Her Eminence, Archbishop Dr. Elizabeth Paul-Obelley (JP), has risen in prayer against what she described as slaughter of Christians and burning of Churches in Nigeria and the world over.

The event which took place at the WOWICAN’s South-South Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Monday, witnessed a large gathering of Christian fruitfuls.

In her opening address, the first female Archbishop in Rivers State, stressed the need to pray for the country because of the benefits of doing so.

She quoted from the book of Jeremiah 1:5 and Psalms 133: 1, urging Christians to seek God first.

The Archbishop, who is the General Overseer of Shammah Christian Ministries International Incorporated used the occasion to pray against bloodshed and sorrow as the Saturday’s governorship and State assemblies elections come close in Rivers State and other parts of the country.

She also expressed the wish that politics would cease from the leadership of WOWICAN and CAN in the country.

She called on Nigerians to praise God with musical instruments and make a choice to always stand by the truth at all times.
