Evo Bishop Inaugurates BCMSS Old Boys Association

…As College Principal Offers Opportunities For Excellence

The Bishop of Diocese of Evo Kingdom, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Innocent Uchechukwu Ordu has inaugurated members of the Old Boys Association (OBA) of Bishop Crowder Memorial Secondary School (BCMSS), Rumuobiakani in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event which recently at the School’s Assembly Hall at Rumuobiakani, the Bishop said the school has raised a lot of men who had gone to university and are doing well across the country, hence a compelling need to have an Old Boys Association of the school.

Rt. Rev. Ordu pointed out that in the past, what the management of the school could offer was only quality teachers, but that today, it could boast of teaching personnel and infrastructure, noting that the school has been churning out students since its formation in 1985.

Describing the school as a mission school that is centered on raising godly children, the Bishop who was a former Principal of the school expressed confidence in the Lord that in no distant time, some of the challenges in the school would be a thing of the past.

He charged members of the pioneer executives of the Old Boys to go extra miles to invite and assemble the Old Boys of the school who are in all parts of the country and beyond, even as he assured that the leadership of the Diocese of Evo kingdom would continue to provide qualitative education for the students of the school to excel.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir (Dr) Ephraim Elenwo said the efficiency and effectiveness of those running the school has reflected on the quality of students they have been producing.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Old Boys Association of BCMSS, Comrade Francis Odemene said the members of the exco would hit the ground running in order for them to attain their goals and vision.

He promised that the Old Boys would work in synergy with the management of the school, while commending the management for a job well done.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal of the school, Rev. Canon ChiemeChimaobi said the management of the school is poised and determined to offer its students the best possible opportunities to enable them succeed.

His words, “I feel privileged to lead an exciting and vibrant school which offers great opportunities for the young people of BCMSS Christian community.  It is our goal and vision to make e3ach and every student succeed.  We offer our students the best possible opportunities to become confident and thoughtful young men”.

The Principal highlighted some of the challenges hampering smoot running the school to include the inability of some parents to pay their ward’s tuition fees as well as knowing that their children need to be nurtured, however assuring that these challenges are surmountable.

“We are prepared for the challenges.  In fact, as this new season begins, we look forward to creating a more secure and conducive environment for students and visitors alike. 

“However, this is not without some hitches like poor road network within the school premises, and the need to upgrade our infrastructures like the school’s fence and main entrance into the school. 

We also need more equipment for our laboratories, laptops and desktop computers for our ICT, new dormitories and class room”, Rev. Canon Chimaobi appealed.
