…As HRH, Eze Nwala Celebrates 50th Birthday Anniversary
It was celebration galore recently in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State as the Paramount Ruler of Ulakwo/Umuselem Clan, HRH, Eze Ken Nwala (JP), Onyeshi Agwuru III rolled out the drums to mark his 50th Birthday Anniversary and five years on the throne.
Addressing dignitaries who graced the occasion at his palacious country home, Eze Nwala informed the guests that the event was indeed a tripartite celebration which includes attainment of the golden age, five years of ascension to the ancient throne as a royal father and official commissioning of his palace, pointing out that these developments were made possible because of the peace and tranquility that prevailed in the clan.
According to him, “peace is the panacea to development and I thank my people for their support and cooperation which contributed immensely to the progress we have made so far and I used this opportunity to urge them not to relent in their efforts”.
The monarch maintained that it is not an easy task for one to attain the golden age of 50 in a country like Nigeria these days which he noted, calls for celebration and thanksgiving to God if it happens.
He promised to uphold the rich cultural heritage of Ulakwo/Umuselem people especially their unique custom and tradition which they are proud of in the whole of Etche Ethnic Nationality, appealing for useful advice to improve on his assignment.
Eze Nwala stressed that if the peoples cultural heritage is revived and practiced accordingly, irrespective of their religious affiliations, it would help in no small measure to restoring peace in every community.
The event which took place at the monarch’s palace in Nihi Etche witnessed the presence of dignitaries from far and near. Highlights of the event were cutting of the birthday cake, commissioning of the palace and honouring of some persons for their sacrifices and contributions to the society including the SARS Commander, Rivers State Command, CSP Uchenna Iwuh. There was also cultural display by the people of Ulakwo/Umuselem.
