“Learning And Development, An Invaluable Resource”

Learning and development has been x-rayed as vital and a timeless resource for improving employees skills, enhancement of motivation, apart from its contribution to the overall productivity and engagement among workforce.

This was the outcome of the 3rd annual conference of Learning and Development Network International, in consortium with the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, PHCCIMA held in Port Harcourt recently.

Speaking at the event, PHCCIMA president and special guest of the occasion, Chief Nabil Saleh, who spoke on the theme: Optimizing Business Growth Through Learning and Development, declared the theme as imperative as it remained one of the greatest investments a person can undertake to harness the greatest result.

According to him, with contemporary development, individuals owed it a duty for continuous self-updating through information and knowledge of the technical know-how to solve a global problem.

He advised companies and organizations not to relent in training their personnel in order to have a competitive edge in business and other endeavours.

He said: “It is my hope that at the end of today’s event we all leave here better and more informed on how we can oprimize our business growth and, by so doing, improve the economy of the state and the nation”.

He called on participants to take advantage of available opportunities in the Port Harcourt Chamber by enlisting as members.

On his own part, the chairman Learning and Development Network International, LDNI, Port-Harcourt Chapter, Mr. Kalada Apiafi, expressed confidence in the choice of the theme for the event, which he reasoned was consciously chosen “because learning and development is a systematic process of preparing employees and leaders for future responsibilities”. He lamented the crave for natural resources without a drive towards human resource, which according to him remained the most valuable resource in attaining full potential and requisite organizational goals. He described LDNI as an association that provided a credible platform for professionals who were committed to providing L and D solutions to support the growth of enterprises in Nigeria.
