NURTW Chairman Bemoans Neglect Of Bori Park

The Acting Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Bori Main Park, Chief Saturday Ndiinee has lamented the dilapidated condition of Bori Park saying there is need for the park to be rehabilitated and given a face lift to serve the people better.

He made the disclosure at Bori the Khana Local Government Headquarters while addressing newsmen, pointing out that more passengers will be attracted to the park if given a facelift like other parks in the State. 

Chief Ndiinee who is also the Paramount Ruler of Teyorkaani Community said that Bori Park need a functional police post for protection of lives and property as well as toilet facilities, light, water among others as obtainable in other area.

He therefore called on the Khana Local Government chairman, Hon. Lahteh Loolo to urgently come to the aid of the park which noted is begging for attention and save it from deterioration.

Meanwhile he used the opportunity to warn those operating illegal motor parks in Bori metropolis to desist or be ready to face unpleasant consequences as anyone caught would be handed over to the police for prosecution.

Mr. Ndiinee insisted that the practice is against the order of Governor Wike who kicked against the indiscriminate establishment of illegal motor parks in the State, adding that the NURTW Bori chapter will not fold it arms and allow some disobedient drivers flout the order of the government.

According to him, “my only challenge as chaiman of Bori Park is that some drivers are still loading outside the park which is not proper and we have warn them to leave the road for security reasons but they won’t listen. NURTW stand for protection of lives and property. So, I want them to give their passengers the needed protection in Bori by loading in the main park not outside.

“If you watch, you will see them operating at Boue Junction, Kaani Junction, Wisdom Street amongst others, we have informed the area commander office and the DCO in Bori about the illegal activities of these drivers our taskforce is also doing everything to ensure sanity but they are very stubborn”. 

While commending the Khana Local Government Chairman Lahteh Loolo for his efforts at restoring peace in Khana local government and its environs he informed that Khana is too large for an individual to govern successfully. He said the local government should be splited into different local governments for administrative convenience starting from Babbe, Yorkhana and Kenkhana.

In the same vein, Chief Hon. John Ibakpo the former chairman of Bori Park call on the people of Khana to join hand to develop the area and make it habitable. He wondered why people are running to Port-Harcourt and other local government areas which are already developed while Bori is still in darkness and undeveloped.
