Fubara Receives Staff of Office As Governor, Makes Major Appointments

Amidst great anticipation, Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara was on Monday, sworn in as the new Governor of Rivers State in a momentous inauguration ceremony held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

In his inaugural address, Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed his unwavering dedication to serving every Rivers man and woman, promising an inclusive and prosperous future for all.

The Governor began by expressing his deep gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support and trust in his leadership.

He acknowledged the tremendous responsibility bestowed upon him and assured every citizen that he would be a governor for all, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or ethnicity.

In an inspiring and unifying speech, Governor Fubara outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing the need for development, progress, and social cohesion.

He highlighted his administration’s core priorities, including improved infrastructure, quality education, healthcare accessibility, job creation, security and transportation.

“Fellow Rivers people, today, you have given me a great responsibility to preside over our State as your Governor for the next four years. I am genuinely touched by the spotlight and humbled by the honour. And this I will be: the Governor of all Rivers people.

“You have invested your trust in us, and the question is how we can provide effective good governance to meet your hopes and expectations.

“Our response is simple and majestic. By today’s mandate, you have asked for continuity in leadership and like a strong relay team, we have accepted the baton to continue the race.

“We will provide that strong, determined, focused, purposeful and responsible leadership. Though enormous, we assure you we are equal to the tasks and responsibilities ahead”, Fubara proclaimed, his voice resolute with determination.

He vowed that no one would be left behind as together, they would build a Rivers State where every citizen can thrive.

The Governor pledged to prioritize investments in key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and youth empowerment.

He stressed the importance of harnessing the state’s abundant resources and leveraging them to create sustainable economic opportunities for all residents.

Additionally, he promised to enhance healthcare services, particularly in rural areas, to ensure that every citizen has access to quality medical care.

The governor also touched upon the crucial issue of security, affirming his commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of Rivers people, vowing to work closely with security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to combat crime and maintain peace throughout the state.

He emphasized the resolve of his administration to come hard on criminals and criminality.

As his speech drew to a close, Governor Fubara reiterated his dedication to transparency, accountability, and good governance.

He urged the citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, assuring them that their voices would be heard and respected.

The inauguration ceremony concluded with a ceremonial oath-taking, administered by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, symbolizing Governor Fubara’s official assumption of office.

The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, political leaders, community representatives, and a jubilant crowd of supporters.

Meanwhile, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has nominated four persons as Commissioners and forwarded their names to the Rivers State House of Assembly for confirmation.

The names of the nominees, all of who served as Commissioners in the Nyesom Wike administration are: Professor Zacheaus Adangor, SAN, Dr. Dakorinama George-Kelly, Hon. Isaac Kamalu and Professor Chinedu Mmon.
