Reciprocate Gov Wike’s Gesture On Prompt Salaries Payment, Obuah Charges Workers

…As Unions Commend RIWAMA Boss Over Staff Welfare

The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah has called on workers in the State to reciprocate the kind gestures of Governor Nyesom Wike, who has ensured that they get their salaries regularly in spite of the harsh economic realities in the country.

Bro. Obuah who gave the charge during a meeting with the leadership of the RIWAMA Chapters of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) respectively on Monday, said the situation is not the same in most States in the country as a result of the current economic doldrums.

He emphasized that the Governor Wike’s gesture in paying workers’ salaries as and when due has imposed a duty on workers not only to take their work seriously, but also to shun complacency to work, as this would be detrimental to the aims and objectives of government.

The Sole Administrator thanked the two unions for working in tandem with the objectives of the Agency and urged them never to relent.

In their separate speeches, the Chairman of AUPCTRE, RIWAMA Chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Nyenwene; and his counterpart from the MHWUN, Comrade Stephen Atuzie, both echoed their appreciation to Bro. Obuah over his ‘fatherly love, care and concern for staff and their welfare’.

Comrade Nyenwene said he lacked words to express the quantum of care shown towards his members by the Sole Administrator, adding that Obuah has lived true to his nickname, ‘Go-Round’.

According to him, “I can beat my chest to say that every staff in RIWAMA has benefited from your generosity one way or the other, directly or indirectly.  In one word, you are an epitome of your nickname, Go Round”.

Nyenwene particularly thanked Bro. Obuah for providing a free functional staff clinic for workers.

The AUPCTRE Chairman also commended the Agency’s Director of Administration/Personnel, Abraham Ian Gobo for what he described as ‘great complementary role’ in delivering the kind gestures of the Sole Administrator to the workers, urging him to keep up the tempo.

Also speaking, Chairman of MHWUN in the Agency, Comrade Stephen Atuzie said since Bro. Obuah assumed office as Sole Administrator of RIWAMA, he has ushered joy to the workers due to what he called humane disposition towards the welfare of workers.

He pledged the cooperation of members to move the Agency forward.  In his words: “Our aim is to join hands with you and the management to bring to fulfillment, your goals for Rivers State, the Agency and staff as well as protecting the staff which we represent and solicit for their rights and benefits”.
