Abonnema Ultra Modern 3000 Capacity Stadium Commissioned Amid Celebrations

Last Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered at the newly built stadium in Abonnema, the headquarters of Akuku- Toru local government area for the official commissioning of the stadium and the flag-off of the activities for the forth coming local government polls in River State.

Speaking at the commissioning of the project, Gov Nyesom Wike who was represented by his chief of staff, Hon. Emeka Woke expressed satisfaction with the projects, boasting that scholars of Governor Nyesom Wike’s transformation agenda are doing very well in their various local government areas.

He disclosed that the multi million sports stadium has a sitting capacity 3000 persons with a VIP lounge, a gym, two dressing rooms for two teams, VIP stand, 26 shops and other important features, adding that the stadium would boost sports activities in the area.

He commended the executive chairman of Akuku-toru local government area, Hon. Rowland Sekibo for his great achievements and urged him to render more excellent services to the people of AKULGA.

The executive chairman of Akulga, Hon. Rowland Sekibo thanked the governor, party stalwarts, stakeholders and the masses for giving him the privilege to serve and also thanked them for their love and cooperation, saying he was able to succeed because of their cooperation.

Hon. Sekibo said the newly commissioned stadium would develop the sporting capabilities of the youths and that the stadium is one of the signature projects of his administration, although he believes so much in human capital development than what he described as block and cement projects.

His words: To me, my legacy projects would be skill acquisition, the assistance we are giving in revamping the education sector in the LGA, if not for anything the #20,000 given to over one thousand students yearly is more important. Although it is not enough to carter for their educational needs but it’s just a step in the right direction and I promise it will be a yearly ritual so long as I am in office”

The council boss promised that if voted into power for a second term, he would give the Oceania communities a fair deal, saying the people of those communities will feel the positive impact of government through more quality service delivery.

He promised not to sit in the comfort of his office and allocate projects to them rather he would call for a town hall meeting so as to know their needs and go by them.

The immediate past youth leader of PDP Rivers State chapter, Hon. Odimabo Torukwein said Hon. Sekibo is a good candidate that has been tested and trusted while calling on the people to vote PDP on the April 17, polls.

Hon. Torukwein said the wide acceptance of Hon. Sekibo and the councillorship candidates is an indication of winning at the polls, while assuring that the incumbent chairman would continue to serve with integrity and passion.

He said the only way to appreciate the good works of Hon. Sekibo is to support his reelection.

Speaking earlier, the acting Chairman of AKULGA PDP, Hon. Emmanuel Stephen appealed to the people of AKULGA to reciprocate the good work of Nyesom Wike by voting massively for all the PDP candidates.

He expressed confidence that Hon. Sekibo will not deter from good quality service delivery.
