Okochiri Monarch Lauds Ijaw Waterfront Women

…Pledges Support

The Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King Ateke Michael Tom, has promised to work with the Ijaw Waterfront Women Association in order to move the region forward.

King Ateke Michael Tom, Sekuro of Niger Delta who made the assurance when the group paid him a courtesy visit at his Okochiri palace Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State lauded that the vision of the association, stressing that every Ijaw son and daughter should be proud of their ethnic nationality.

Represented by the kings Chief of staff, Chief Tamunokonbia Akaluogbo, the Okochiri monarch further commended the activities of the body since its inception in 2014, and enjoined them not to relent their efforts in agitating and fighting for the rights of every Ijaw people.

According to him, with support and encouragement, the group would take the Ijaw nation to greater heights, stressing that as Ijaw Waterfront Women, they should intensify all efforts in ensuring that their voice is heard and given its rightful place in the scheme of things in the country, state and Local Government Areas, and thanked them for the visit with an assurance that their next visit would be a celebration galore.

Earlier, the President of the organization, Sarah Gbelabo gave God the glory for the peaceful and successful coronation of King Ateke Michael Tom as the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom and noted that since his coronation, the kingdom and the entire Okrika clan has witnessed absolute peace.

Gbelabo, who described the Amanyanabo as a peace builder, called on the entire Wakirike nation and all Ijaws to support and pray for his peaceful reign, while requesting that they should be carried along in his empowerment and other programmes in the kingdom.

In her vote of thanks, the Co-ordinator of Ogu/Bolo chapter of Ijaw Waterfront Women Association, Charity Nangibo thanked the monarch for the warm reception and assured to be part of the kingdom in all their activities.

Other dignitaries present during the visit include Chief Tamunonengiye-Ofori Stephen, Ezekiel Oba and Chief Tamunotonye Kiri of Chiri War Canoe House of Okochiri Kingdom.
