There was mild drama at Olu-Obasanjo Police Station in Port Harcourt on Friday following the arrest of a man (name withheld) who was accused of raping a 24-year old lady and seizing her brazier and underwear in the process.
The victim, in her statement at the Olu-Obasanjo Police Station explained that the man had invited her to a popular hotel along Evo Road, GRA with an agreement of giving her contract to arrange girls that would do ushering work at a function in Port Harcourt.
Unknown to her that the man had a sinister motive, the victim alleged that as the discussion was going on inside the room, the man grabbed her and threatened to kill her if she refused to cooperate.
She alleged that after the man had done raping her, he seized her pant and bra and threatened to use the seized materials for ritual purposes if she reports the incident to anyone.
Our source revealed that the victim allegedly broke the news of the rape incident to her friend after the man refused to pay her for the ushering contract which she did along with five other girls at an occasion that lasted for two days.
National Network further gathered that the matter was reported to the Police and upon the arrest of the man, her pant and bra was recovered from the man’s room in the hotel.
We also gathered that the accused has denied raping the lady and reportedly admitted having sex with her but claimed that it was with her consent.
On the pant and bra that was recovered from his room, he explained that the lady was the person that left her under wears in his room after washing it.
Our reporter also gathered that the man admitted owing the girls for the two days ushering work promising to pay when the organizers of the event pay him.
Our source disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station, after interviewing the man and the lady advised the man to pay for the work the girls did for him while investigation will be carried out to ascertain if the lady was raped or not.
As at press time, the man is yet to pay for the ushering service and has also been granted bail but instructed to report to the State whenever he is needed.
A senior Police Officer who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident to our reporter, adding that the raped victim has since picked up her pant and bra from the Police.
