RSHA Makes Case For Flood Victims

Rivers State House of Assembly has called for the establishment of State Emergency Management Agency to address the issue of flooding and cater for flood victims in the state.

This followed the motion presented on the floor of the House by the House Committee Chairman on Environment, Hon. Dumle Mail.

They said the establishment of State owned emergency Management Agency will enable Rivers state to access the funds for flood ravaged states regretting that National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been unfair to the state.

The lawmakers who took turn to inform the House of the havoc the flood has  caused their constituents stressed the need to save the people and not to wait for the federal agency especially in the face of such danger.

They however resolved to invite Local Government Chairmen and the Ministry of Environment to make necessary plans for flood affected areas in the state.

They also urged all lawmakers to sensitize their constituents in preparation of the flood and called on National Assembly to make proactive measures to give succor to the flood victims in the state.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Martin Amaewhule has prayed the House to prevail on NEMA not to abandon the state since Rivers State is among the flood affected states for which funds are allocated to.
