Residents Lament Dumping Of Still-Born Babies At Refuse  Dumps

Some concerned residents of Diobu in Mile One have lamented the prevailing  trend of dumping of new born babies at waste dumps in the area.

Some of the residents who spoke to our reporter disclosed that within two weeks two dead new born babies had been evacuated from two different  dump sites.

One Chigozie Goodness expressed dismay at the trend where mothers/couple will dump new born babies at a dump site and left to died.

Meanwhile, some officers of  the Divisional Police headquarters in Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt had evacuated the corpse of a day old baby boy dumped inside a waste bin at the median of Ikwerre road opposite Egede street Mile 2 diobu in PortHarcourt local Government area last week Wednesday night .

Some residents who spoke to our correspondent said they discovered the baby when they came to dispose their waste .

But, the alarm raised by the first set of persons who came to dispose of their  waste  attracted large crowd at the scene which resulted in heavy gridlock in the area.

Respondents condemned the action of the unknown mother describing it as evil and barbaric.

Our correspondent also report that there were satchets of injection close to the dead baby.

Our correspondent who was at the scene reports the new born baby was already dead before the arrival of the Police.

It would be recalled that some motor mechanics at National/Elechi street had discovered decomposing body of an infant at a waste dump site three weeks ago.

The Chief Security Officer of Rumu Elechi street, Mile 3 diobu Port Harcourt, Godstime Ihunwo confirmed the incident  to this publication in a telephone conversation.
