Fashion freaks and lovers of beauty are in for a treat as top designers in the Port Harcourt fashion industry including some notable models in the city, have lined up to showcase their competencies in the upcoming 2019 edition of Face of Fashion (Nigeria) pageantry show.

The show which is billed for September 28, 2019 at the popular Lesuka Events Center in Port Harcourt, is expected to leave behind, a fashion statement and further showcase the Garden City as the epicenter of fashion not only in the South-South region of Nigeria but in the country at large.

Speaking to National Network in an interview on Monday, a frontline fashion promoter and organizer of the pageantry, Mr. Precious Fubara said the event would be the most prestigious 'fashion crown' in the history of Rivers State as it would not only promote fashion in the state, but would reemphasize the place of Port Harcourt in the nation's fashion business.

According to him, those considered in the pageantry include cloth, shoes, belt and bead makers and even sculptors.  He said his organization is out to correct the erroneous impression about fashion being tied to cloth designs, adding that culture and lifestyle in general constitute fashion.

“Our objective is to rebrand the fashion industry in Rivers State, attract investors and boost the state's GDP and grow the economy of the State and by extension, Nigeria as a whole.

Fubara who is the South-South (Nigeria) Coordinator of the African Fashion Organization (AFO) said only African fashion designs would be showcased at the event, adding that those adjudged the best designers and models would be signed on for Fashion Weeks coming up in the Middle East, Paris and Tanzania.

“This is the reason we are staging the pageantry, to be able to raise world class designers and models who will go there and do us proud”, he said, adding that arrangements have also reached advanced stage to sign in models for a New York based fashion organization.  He said auditions for the models would commence soon as the Face of Fashion contest is successfully concluded in September.
