Nigerians woke up on Wednesday 6th March, 2019 to hear the sad news of the transition of one of the Country's superlative philosophers, patriots, philanthropist, community leader, a university scholar and administrator, Professor (Chief) Addison Mark Wokocha (Ikemba of Ogbaland).
As the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB, conducted the 2019 pre- admission examination into the tertiary institutions in the country for both public and private universities, it is on record that the number of admission seekers have soared, beyond what it was in the past. So, when about 1.99 million candidates sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, as part of admission process, whereby available spaces for admission were pegged at 750,000, this is an indication that, for many candidates their success will not be a walk in the park, but one that will be achieved not only by dint of hard work and other variables.
Edo State is one of the states in the country where the politics has always attracted the attention of the nation due to the fact that the players are politically sophisticated. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ruled in the state during the leadership of late Chief Tony Anenih until November 12, 2008, when the former labour leader, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole emerged the governor after the Appeal Court sitting in Benin declared him the authentic winner of the April governorship election in the state and that saw the end of the PDP era in the state. Oshiomhole, brought the Action Congress which later became the present All Progressives Congress (APC) to the South South.

It is by the Special Design of God that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike emerged as the last State Governor to receive his certificate of return in the 2019 election circle. Ordinarily, Governor Wike ought to have received his Certificate of Return ahead of his political peers. But that was not to be, due to reasons that are known worldwide.
Rivers State has always been in the news out of the 36 states of the federation and each time the state is in the news, it would either be on issues of insecurity or political rivalry. It was, therefore, no surprise that the state was again in the news in the recently held 2019 General Elections.
