Breaking News:  APC Spokesman In Rivers, Ogbonna Nwuke Resigns

The Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress  (APC)  in Rivers State, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke  has resigned his position.

No reason was however given for the action.

But Nwuke said in a letter he forwarded to the leadership of the party, dated September 19, 2021 that his decision to quit as the party’s  Spokesman “is strictly personal.”

“We believe that our assignment here has been done. We came at a time of great internal strife, when there was a strong need to effectively connect with the party’s many audiences”, the statement said.

According to a statement made available to the press in Port Harcourt, “Everything that has a beginning has an end. It is time to move on and time to concentrate on other things of great interest.”

“We want to thank our colleagues, specifically statutory members of the party for the confidence they reposed in us at a critical time in the midst of our collective struggle. We benefitted immensely from their moral support, goodwill and encouragement.

“Let me add that while we wait  on our Creator and what the future holds for us, we did everything within our power to deliver on the mandate that we were given”, the statement noted.

Nwuke served as Director of Press  Affairs to former Governor Amaechi.

Nwuke later served as Commissioner for Information and Communications, Commissioner for Commerce before he contested and won election as member, Federal House of Representatives, representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency.

He is a journalist and publisher of Port Harcourt Telegraph.

Nwuke ‘s exit as spokesman of the APC is most likely to generate mixed reactions among Rivers people, sons and daughters of Etche, party members and the political class generally.
