Insecurity: Result Of Years Of Leadership Decay  – CAN Chairman

The insecurity in the country has been attributed to a long-time decay occasioned by bad governance.

This was the view of the Rivers State Chapter Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimpka in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt over the weekend.

According to him, “the bad governance resulted in infrastructural decay and bad government policies but if government is sincere in fighting insecurity, the leaders should concentrate in righting of wrongs of the past 10 – 15 years which led to unemployment of teeming youths and eventual abject poverty”, he stated.

The man of God made it clear that once the Nigeria's leaders are honest and bring about good governance through industrialization of the country, poverty will be reduced if not eradicated and the restive youths will be engaged in meaningful ventures.

On the eventual approval of local government autonomy by the FG, the clergy man said it is the best thing that has happened as the grassroot will now witness real development since their allocation will be coming directly to the LG chairmen who in turn will plan on priority needs of the people ranging from human capital development to provision of welfare packages and infrastructural development.

He made it clear that allowing the first, second and third tier of governments functions perfectly is the beauty of democracy and would render collaborative effort in the general development of the people.

On the Ruga controversy, with its attendant “Fulanization agenda”, Apostle Dimkpa said he believes and rely on the potency of prayers in facing the challenges, adding that there is nothing God cannot do.

Quoting from the holy book, he made it known that with God all things are possible as the heart of the king is in His hands.

The man of God stated further that what is facing the country indeed is principalities and powers which needed caution.

“We are dealing with spiritual warfare, enemies of the country in high places and so we need to pray without ceasing as the holy book commended”, he stated.

He equally used the opportunity to commend well-meaning Nigerians for rising up against the evil Ruga controversy which has been eventually suspended by the FG, praying that it would permanently be put off.

The next thing that God is working for the citizenry, according to him, is the judicial autonomy.

He stated that once the judiciary as an arm of government is able to assert its independence, the real hope of the people will be guaranteed.

On the ultimatum of the Northern Youths to president Buhari, to rescind the suspension of the Ruga project, Dr. Dimkpa said they should be disregarded as agents of disunity, adding that they should note that Buhari is not the president of the North alone.

On his mission in the Christian body, the chairman said that apart from the restoration of the peace and unity of the Christian body, his Exco is equally embarking on supporting the destitute, less privileged and particularly to be able to bring back the derailed youths and reintegrate them back into the society.

“we shall discourage them from societal vices especially cultism and kidnapping and empower them.

On the issue of restructuring of the country, the CAN chairman was of the opinion that the elected National Assembly members have the constitutional powers to amend any area that needs to be amended to suit the reality of the times.

While accepting that the 2014 Jonathan confab was a far-reaching solution to the challenges confronting the country, he wondered aloud why the former president could not implement the outcome before he was removed from office.
