Free For All Fighting At Wedding Ceremony

The venue of a wedding reception ceremony in an open field close to Fidelity Bank at the Rivers State University (RSU) last week Saturday   was thrown into chaos following a fight that reportedly broke out between the families of the newly wedded couple, National Network has learned.

An eyewitness told our reporter that trouble started when the family members of the wife were sharing food and drinks to the guests and other well wishers at the reception ground.

Our source disclosed that a brother to the newly wedded groom accused his brother’s wife’s relatives of giving food to only their people. The woman’s brother was said to have reprimanded their accuser. We learned the development led to fisticuffs between the couple’s brothers as some guests hurriedly left the scene as the fight ensued.

We gathered that the couple watched with disappointment as the fight raged. The source revealed that it took the intervention of some members of the Anglican Church where the wedding took place to calm the situation down.

A guest at the wedding told National Network that the couples lost the opportunity of having many gift items as so many well wishers hurriedly left the occasion with the gifts they were supposed to present to the husband and wife.

Some uninvited guests who had the hope of eating their lunch at the wedding reception left disappointed, the source stated.

Investigation showed that the wife is from Ebonyi state while the husband is from Ikwerre, Rivers State.

In the meantime, some responders who spoke to National Network explained that to avoid occurrence of such incident groom and bride are advised to make use of people who are not related to both families to share the food and drinks .

The responders opined that the use of people not related to the groom and bride will help solve the issue of favouritism doing sharing of food in such occasion.
