Ndele Boils Again As Suspected Cultists Destroy Houses Few Days After Kidnap Of Traditional Ruler

Suspected cultists on Saturday July 6, 2019 destroyed some houses and burnt down another two at Nmgbela Clan in Ndele Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, National Network has learnt.

The arson attack came barely two days after the traditional ruler of Omofo Clan, Ndele, Chief Edison Omodu, was kidnapped at Odegu axis of Emohua LGA.

National Network learnt that before the kidnap of the traditional ruler and destruction of houses, a suspected number one man of Deygbam cult group in Omofo clan  died of gunshot injury he sustained in a shootout with the police on June 28.

It was gathered that members of his group had threatened to unleash mayhem on the community following his death.

It would be recalled that suspected cultists two months ago burnt down the house of Chief Sampson Agbaru in Ndele, former Secretary to Rivers State government.

When contacted, the spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni assured that he yet to get in touch with the DPO of the Police station in the area.
