ASALGA Gets New Vice Chairman

…As Chief Princewill Promises Sustainable Development

The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Alaso Johnbull-Obi has charged the new Vice Chairman and Council Secretary, as well as the newly appointed supervisors to align themselves and work toward the policy objectives and programmes of the LGA.

The Chairman who gave the charge during the official swearing-in ceremony and inauguration of the new Vice Chairman and other principal executive members of the council at council headquarters at Buguma on Monday, urged them to acquaint themselves with the policy objectives of the LGA.

She told them not to isolate themselves from the people they have been elected and appointed to service, adding that leadership is about service.

“Do not isolate yourselves from the people you have been elected and appointed to serve”, she cautioned.

She reminded them to be 100% loyal to the Governor Nyesom Wike led administration and the leadership of the PDP in the state and enjoined them not to take the opportunity offered to them for granted.

While taking his oath of office, the new Vice Chairman of the LGA, Chief Barr. Tamuno Belema Princewill said he would use his office to ensure even and rapid development across the LGA.

“Another area of my focus or policy thrust will be on peace and security.  The empowerment of women and the youth will also be part of my agenda”, Chief Princewill promised.

The Vice Chairman maintained that as part of his oversight function, he would use his position to ensure that his people benefit from SPDC and other multinational companies doing business in the area, stressing on the need for a harmonious and robust relationship with companies.

Chief Princewill commended Governor wike and the entire people of ASALGA for the opportunity they offered him to serve, promising not to let them down.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the inauguration, a lawyer and one of the new Supervisors, Hon. Vivian Asawo said since this is the first time ASALGA is having a lady as Executive Chairman, all appointees in the Council would work hand in glove with both the elected and appointed leader of the council.

In his vote of thanks, the new Council Secretary, Hon. Tombo Horsfall reiterated on the need for teamwork by both the appointed and elected members of the LGA.
