...Congratulates Gov Wike Over Victory
The Rivers State House of Assembly has reteirated its commitment to give a robust legislation in the 9th assembly to enhance more development and to better the lives of Rivers people.
Speaker Ikunyi Owaji Ibani who spoke unbehalf the principal officers of the House stated this while briefing members of the Assembly Press Corps.
He said the 9th Assembly is focused on certain dreams and visions as well as legislations that would cover various sectors adding that it would step up on the achievements of the 8th Assembly.
On the issue of being a Stooge to the executive arm, Mr Speaker who maintained that the legislature has been operating independently described the relationship between the executive and the legislature as one geared towards ensuring that the dividends of democracy are delivered to the people of Rivers State.
"Our Philosophy is that the Legislature is part of governance,we also carry out oversight functions to check mate the Executive", Mr speaker noted.
Ikunyi Owaji Ibani said that the essence of the press briefing is to congratulate Governor Nyesom Wike on his victory on the judgment of the petition tribunal hinted that the success is for the victory of democracy.
He also expressed readiness to support His Excellency and enjoined their constituents to support the Governor.
Speaker, Ikunyi Owaji Ibani further said the 9th Assembly is focused and will ensure all budgets appropriated for in the state are utilized judiciously as well as respond to the yearnings of the people.
