Khana Non-Indigenes Appoint Leaders, Confer Award On DPO

Determined to foster peace, unity and progress among its members, non-indigenes resident in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State under the auspices of Non-Indigenes Without Border (NIWB) have appointed a 25-member Committee to enhance its affairs on interim basis.

The non-indigenes took the action in a meeting held at the International Conference Center, Nortem – Bori recently that was supervised by their ethnic nationality leaders namely Akaraka Nwaeze (Eze Ndiigbo I of Ogoni), Mallam Yahaya Danmadami Umar (Serikin Hausawa), Chief Denis Akpan (AkwaIbom), Alhaji Lateef Salau (Supol rtd Yoruba) and Chief Bassey Otudor JP (Akwa/Cross) as Co-ordinator.

The Exco members have Mallam Umaru Abubakar as the Chairman, Dr. Israel Egwu (vice), Chief Bassey Otudor JP (Secretary), Messrs Ozonnagbo Nnamdi (Asst. Sec), Sunday Nwakpa (treasurer), Wednesday Edidem (Fin. Sec), Monday Chiendu (Org. Sec), and Harrison Ojubani (Provost), while Madam Joy Nneji and Madam Olusegun B. Akinte are women leader and PRO, respectively.

The members are Messrs Uche Oghali, Ogbeni Oke Saheed, Saheed Alaja, Joseph Okpara, Murtala Mohammed,  Abdulkareem Ahmed and Kabiru Ibrahim. Other members include Messrs Mohammed Saeed, Monday Ideh, Emman Etim, Uduak Michael, Mfon Clement and Mrs Ini Johnson.

A Journalist and Public Commentator, Comrade Alloy Khenom who was among those that witnessed the event commended the Non-Indigenes Forum in Khana LGA for their peaceful manner but advised members to be more united in order to attract development to the area.

The Forum pledged unflinching support to the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike in his drive to improve life in the state, including the fight against COVID-19 scourge.

A similar pledge was sent to the Chairman of the LGA, Chief (Barr) Lateh Laloolo, while the forum also mandated its Exco members to work closely with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Khana towards upliftment of living standard in the society.

The co-ordinator of the Forum, Chief Bassey Otudor JP administered the oath of office on the Exco members, while speakers including the Exco chairman, Mallam Umaru Abubakar, Eze Ndiigbo I (in Ogoni), Akaraka Nwaeze, Monday Chinedu Oturuk and a former chairman of the forum, Mr. Monday Ideh all hammered on the need for peace and co-operation, as well as the need by the new Exco to carry everyone along.

Highlight of the well attended event was the presentation of Certificate of Honour to the tireless Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bori, Superintendent of Police (SP) Chief Bako  Angbashim for his dedication to service and steady approach to combat crime and evil, regardless of time, distance and weight of incident.
