Ubima: Youths Fight Over Community  Largesse

Investigation revealed that the leaders of the two groups of youths had evolved a formula of sharing the largesse which their members consider unfair and demanded immediate restructuring for there to be peace in the area.

Consequently, the youth decided to protest the ‘unfair’ sharing formula and swore to continue until the alleged cheating is addressed.

But for the timely intervention of the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at the instance of former Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, we also learnt, the incident would have escalated.

One of the leaders of the two youth groups simply named Onyemachi was reportedly arrested during the melee and taken to Elele Police Station.

According to a source, some of the leaders of the community told the Police that the man in question had not committed any crime as he was instrumental to the signing of peace accord by the two rival cult groups in the community.

Another version of the report has it that, Onyemachi is being detained by the Police over complaints brought against him after he was arrested by a prominent Elder in Omordu clan in Ubima community.
