International World Youth Day: RSG Plans One Youth One Skill Project For Rivers Youths

In commemoration of this year’s International World Youth Day, River State Government has put on ground a project aimed at creating enteprenures among Rivers youths.

The commissioner for Youths and Development, Hon. Prince Obi Ohia disclosed this in a media parley in his office.

He said government is more interested in creating enterprenures who will in turn create employment in the state.

The commissioner said the plan which is called ‘one youth one skill project’ will also generate a market to serve as a link what the youths are producing and those who need their expertise.

Chronicling what the government has done in the educational sector Hon. Ohia noted that all those actions including the Real Madrid Academy were targeted at youth development.

He called on all sectors, multinational companies and government at all levels to develop a workable frame work that can support proper youth development adding that the state intends to carry out a leadership summit to impact on the youths from the 23 local government areas as well as talk shows that will feature notable personalities in the state as part of the activities lined up for this year’s event.

He hinted that the celebration of world Youth day is very essential for our society because it offers the avenue to look into the challenges the youths are having while using it to recognize and award those youths that have excelled in their various endeavours.

International World Youth Day which is celebrated annually on the 12th of August was necessitated by the dare need for the whole world to recognize a particular day for the youths.

Prince Ohia stated that this year’s theme “Transforming the food system: youth innovation for human and planetary gains” will aid in sustaining agriculture while preserving the ecosystem.
