Rumuolumeni Kingdom Inaugurates Committees To Move The Area Forward

Stakeholders of the Rumuolumeni kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State in their determination to move the area forward have agreed, jointly raised and inaugurated two functional committees to pilot the affairs of the kingdom.

Speaking with newsmen at the event recently, the traditional Prime Minister of the kingdom and Acting Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli of Rumuolumeni kingdom, Eze Chinedu Nyeche N. Onunwo (JP) said they decided to raise these two committees to make the workload of the chiefs and elders easier. He charged them to be fair and firm.

The two committees with four members each are that of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Rumuolumeni Employment Bureau (REB).

He further charge the committees to do all within their ability to ensure peace, progress, unity and development of the kingdom.

According to the Traditional Prime Minister, Eze Onunwo (JP) who is also the Chairman Rumuolumeni Council of chiefs “It is important these committees support the chiefs, elders and the kingdom leaders to move the kingdom to a greater height by partnering with the local and state governments as well as the multi-national companies operating in the area to bring development to us,” he said.

“We also expect them to ensure that the kingdom is kept clean at all times especially helping to coordinate, monitor and enforce compliance on sanitation exercises days and periodically. And also to provide alternative dispute resolution for peace and security of the people,” he stated.

On the part of the REB Committee, he charged them to ensure that employable youths of the kingdom are properly engaged for them to be self-reliant.

And also to secure scholarships for those who are interested in furthering their studies while others are engaged in skill acquisition programmes for them to be self-reliant.

Eze Onunwo (JP) also charged the committees to ensure that the dilapidated schools and bad internal roads in the area are maintained through the support of the government and companies.

Also speaking with newsmen, Hon. Tony Okeah, another stakeholder of the kingdom said it is important they raise the committees to ensure peaceful co-existence of the people with the stanger elements in their midst, as well as their neighbours; adding that peace is indeed a panacea to development hence, they left every other of their engagements that day to pay attention to the all important kingdom assignment.

Earlier, the CDC chairman, Chief ThankGod Mark had on behalf of the two committees responded that they are indeed grateful to be chosen among many others, promising that they will not betray the confidence reposed on them but to work hard and leave worthy legacies.

Highlight of the event was the administration of oath of office to the appointed officers while other stakeholders watched with keen interest.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rumuolumeni Police Station with his men as well as some members of the internal security outfit (OSPAC) were on ground to maintain peace and security at the event.

Also students of the Rivers State School of Health on Community Service to the kingdom as part of their school curriculum upon their arrival to the kingdom came to pay courtesy/familiarization visit to the Rumuolumeni Council of Chiefs.

The CDC members includes Chief ThankGod Mark – Chairman; Comrade Kennedy Okeah – Vice Chairman; Comrade (Dr) Kelvin Ogbonna – Secretary and Comrade Promise Olumeni – PRO.

The REB Committee members includes, Comrade Okechukwu Adolphus Wagbara – Chairman; Comrade Collins Amadi – Vice Chairman; Comrade Wobo Aham Boniface – Secretary and Comrade Godspower N. Daniel, (P.R.O).
